Fanboy drooling
Well, I'm enough of a Thomas Pynchon geek that I've attempted to read every word he has ever written. I've even gone as far as buying the (somewhat mediocre) CD of an obscure NYC indie rock band for the sole reason that the liner notes were written by the Man Himself.
So it's brilliant to see he has a NEW NOVEL coming out. Here's a link on Amazon:www.amazon.com/Against-Da.../159420120X Who better to blurb than the author (actually, nobody else is qualified. Who else could possibly cope? David freakin' Sedaris?)
"Meanwhile, the author is up to his usual business. Characters stop what they're doing to sing what are for the most part stupid songs. Strange sexual practices take place. Obscure languages are spoken, not always idiomatically. Contrary-to-the-fact occurrences occur. If it is not the world, it is what the world might be with a minor adjustment or two. According to some, this is one of the main purposes of fiction."
