Barely Polyhedral
Well, I expected to be much further along on this, but it took me literally all weekend to install Autodesk Inventor for dumb reasons. (Hint to installer writers: when your installer craps out for want of disk space, um maybe tell the user how much space it actually needs?)
But ahem. I've been thinking about polyhedra and their duals. As a first project to learn the tools, I thought it would be fun to make a series of regular polyhedra with their duals trapped inside. Because these can't easily be fabricated any other way, it's a good thing to show off the capabilities of 3-D printing. Here's a first quick (hah!) attempt showing a perforated cube with an octohedron (its dual) trapped inside.
The rendering tool had a bunch of different backgrounds to choose from -- guess which one I selected?
